Protecting Ancient Redwoods and Stunning Views
With sweeping vistas of the Big Sur coast and surrounding mountains, Rancho Ventana, a private ranch within the Pfeiffer Big Sur State Park, had long been a priority for state protection. Visible from Highway One, the land holds a magnificent old-growth redwood forest.
When the property unexpectedly came up for sale, ALC pounced to preclude the possibility of development. Working with Monterey County, The David and Lucile Packard Foundation and the California Legislature, ALC assembled the funds to add the ranch to the state park.
