Rosaschi Ranch
Preserving a World-class Trout Stream
The 2,397-acre Rosaschi Ranch contains seven miles of blue-ribbon trout water along the East Walker River, one of the top fly-fishing destinations in the eastern Sierra, known for rainbow and brown trout. The East Walker River flows from Bridgeport Reservoir near the town of Bridgeport, California, over the state line and into Nevada.
ALC worked with the Sierra Flycaster’s Association and the Nevada governor’s office to officially designate the East Walker as the state’s first trophy trout stream which requires anglers to catch and release the fish. ALC also acquired 3,420 acre-feet of water rights, providing essential flows to Walker Lake, home to the endangered Lahontan cutthroat trout.
