Creating a New Riverfront Park

A historic riverfront community located just off of the Great River Road in southern Illinois, Thebes, like many small towns in the region, has had limited public access to the river and few opportunities for economic growth.

In 2001, ALC helped Thebes acquire a 1.26-acre riverfront park and boat ramp as the centerpiece of the town?s revitalization strategy. The new riverfront park includes a boat ramp, campsites, a picnic pavilion and ball fields.
