The Lost Coast - King Range

Keeping California’s Lost Coast Wild

The remote King Range south of Eureka became the nation's first National Conservation Area in 1970. Recreation here is as diverse as the landscape. 4,000-foot mountains rise from the sea along California's Lost Coast. The peaks attract hikers, hunters and campers, while the coast beckons surfers, anglers, beachcombers and divers.

ALC worked with the Bureau of Land Management to acquire private holdings within the conservation area, protecting habitat and scenic views while enhancing public access to the Lost Coast Trail.
