Limekiln State Park

Expanding Access to the Big Sur Coast

The breathtaking beauty of the Big Sur coast can be seen at Limekiln State Park. In 1996, ALC bought the 700-acre Limekiln Canyon from the S.H. Cowell Foundation, with funding from The David and Lucile Packard Foundation, state funds earmarked for mountain lion habitat protection, and a matching grant from the Save the Redwoods League. The land is now a state park. The canyon offers stunning views of Big Sur, stately redwoods, camping and beach access. A short hike through redwoods leads to a 100-foot waterfall.
