Enhancing Recreation on the Central Coast

ALC’s acquisition of the Molinari Ranch expands the popular San Simeon State Park and provides new campgrounds in one of the most visited stretches of the coast. Hearst Castle and the Hearst San Simeon State Historical Monument attract millions of visitors each year.

The area is rich in wildlife. Coastal prairie, which covers 65 percent of the property, provides important feeding ground for migrating waterfowl, peregrine falcons and the endangered California condor. The riparian habitat supports the federally-threatened California Coast Steelhead and the California red-legged frog.
